Crossword Jam Answers Explained

Crossword Jam gives you a ring of letters and a crossword-shaped grid, and asks for every word the set will build. This archive holds 9,101 levels and 119,836 answers, each level listed in full with the letter count beside every word.

The set is fixed within a level, so the useful filter is always the same: anything containing a letter outside the set cannot be an answer, however well it seems to fit the grid. Each level page leads with the longest answer, which uses the whole set and tells you at a glance what you are working with.

Levels are grouped into blocks of one hundred for jumping to the range you are playing, and every page links to the levels either side of it.

How to play

How Crossword Jam Works

The three moves that solve most puzzles in this game.

1

Place the longest word

It uses the whole set and anchors the grid, fixing crossings that narrow everything else.

2

Count the empty run

A three-square gap has very few candidates. Match by length before thinking about meaning.

3

Reuse what you placed

Short answers are usually fragments of the long one. Look at what you have already solved rather than at the tiles.

Crossword Jam Tips & Strategy

Six things that make the difference between stuck and solved.

1

The long answer is the letter set

Every other word is built from its letters. That single fact discards most candidates without looking at the board.

2

Short words finish levels

The long answers come easily; the three-letter fillers threaded between them are what stall a grid, because they are easy to read past.

3

Test the endings

S, ED, ER and ING turn one solved answer into two or three more. It is the quickest way to unstick a board.

4

Build from the rare letter

A J, Q, X, V or Z narrows the field faster than any vowel. Work out where it can go first.

5

Match the slot, not the meaning

Every answer on a level page shows its length. Counting the gap beats scanning the list.

6

Doubled letters are usable twice

If the set repeats a letter, one answer may use both. Do not discard a word on that assumption.

Crossword Jam FAQ

The questions players ask about this game, answered directly.

1How many Crossword Jam levels are covered?+
9,101 levels holding 119,836 answers, each with its letter count.
2Are the letter sets shown?+
The longest answer uses the full set and leads every level page, so the letters are visible even though the game presents them as a ring.
3Why do answers not carry between levels?+
Each level has its own letter set, so the words available change completely from one level to the next.
4How do I get to one level?+
Open the block of one hundred containing it, or search the game name with the number. Each page links to its neighbours.
5Why do some levels hold far more words?+
Longer sets generate more valid words. The archive lists exactly what each board contains rather than padding to a fixed count.
6Are these answers verified?+
Each level was imported from a structured source record and checked on build, with the page verified to render its full board. See the method page.

How this Crossword Jam archive is put together

Every Crossword Jam puzzle on this site is imported from a structured source record rather than transcribed from a screenshot or copied from another answers page. On import each record is validated before it is allowed through: a puzzle missing its core data is left out of the archive instead of being published incomplete. That is why the count reads 9,101 rather than a rounder marketing number.

The archive is maintained by the Solved Archive editorial team, who play these games and use these pages themselves. Because Crossword Jam has a fixed catalogue that does not change once complete, this archive is finished rather than growing — all 9,101 levels are present. If you spot anything wrong, tell us via the contact page with the puzzle number and we can trace it straight back to its source record. Our full process is written up on the method page.
