Confirm before you trust the number

With eleven thousand levels it is easy to be a screen off. The longest answer on the page is the quickest check.

Later sets are longer

The letter sets grow through the game, so a level that feels unusually hard may simply be further in than you thought.

Endings are free answers

S, ED, ER and ING on a placed stem regularly account for several of the words still missing.

Short words are the blockers

Long answers come first and easily. It is the three-letter words filling the gaps that hold a board open.

Use the count as a target

If the level page lists fourteen answers and you have eleven, you know exactly how much is left and roughly what length.

Rare letters first

A J, Q, X or Z belongs to very few words, so it narrows a board faster than anything else in the set.
