Every answer uses only these letters. Anything containing one from outside is wrong before you check the board.

It usually uses the whole tray and fixes several crossings at once, which narrows everything still open.

Counting the squares in an empty slot beats re-reading the answer list from the top.

The pack name identifies the board

Word Cookies numbers levels inside packs rather than continuously, so the pack is what confirms you are looking at the right level.

Try every ending

Once a stem is placed, test S, ED, ER and ING. Many of the answers left on a stalled board are a word you already found with a suffix.

A doubled letter is usable twice

If the tray shows the same letter twice, a single answer may use both. It is the commonest reason a correct word gets discarded early.

Short words fill the awkward runs

The three-letter answers slot into the gaps the long words leave. Clear them and the board usually opens.

Rare letters are anchors

A J, Q, X or Z belongs to very few words. Work out where it goes and you have often placed the hardest answer on the level.

Use the list by length, not alphabetically

Every answer on a level page shows its count. Scanning by length is far faster than reading the list in order.

Because the game numbers them that way. A level number alone repeats across packs, so the pack name is what identifies a board.

3Does every answer use the whole tray?+

No — only the longest usually does. The rest are shorter combinations, which is why a tray of six letters can hold twenty or more answers.

4How do I find one level?+

Open the block of one hundred containing it, or search the game name with the pack. Each page links to its neighbours.

5Why does my word get rejected?+

Usually a letter from outside the tray, or a plural the game does not accept. Compare against the letter count on the level page before assuming the list is wrong.

6Are these answers verified?+

Each level was imported from a structured source record and checked on build, with the page verified to render its full board. See the method page.
